The time is finally here... soccer season is upon us, at least MLS is ready to get into full swing. Moving away from Colorado last year and the Minnesota United FC expansion into MLS all but certain at the time, I had pondered: would I only be watching soccer on the TV this entire season?
It's not something that I wasn't accustomed to. After all, being a Seattle Sounders FC fan in Colorado meant watching most games on MLS Live (and usually delayed... thank you blackout restrictions). However, having an MLS club in town meant at least once a season I could go and catch a match.
Yet, MNUFC expansion worked out just in time. There would be professional soccer in the state I live in for yet another season!
There is just one little hiccup. Unlike the Colorado Rapids, whom I had no real affinity for, MNUFC is going to be my new hometown team. And really, who doesn't dig their kit and crest? Can a man support two teams? Is this even possible?
The answer to that isn't all that surprising. Of course he can! Seattle Sounders FC will always have a prominent place in my heart. They will get my support when they're in town (even if I have to layer scarves). Much like in the other football while I'll usually root for Green Bay (when I care to give a hoot about NFL), the Seattle Seahawks always get love. Now, when it comes to baseball, Mariners are the only team that get my love.
Seattle is the urban anchor of my childhood home, and so the teams that represent Washington will always have a special place in my home.
So, as we get ready for the MLS season kick-off...
"Sounders 'til I die... Loons for life."
This Itasca Society & Dark Clouds member isn't ashamed of his double patronage. Anyone want to seriously argue the point of retaining your first club as dear but loving your new hometown team completely misses the point of sport, much less the fact that within the MLS all the players get paid from the same org.
Sounders 'til I die... Loons for life.
Go Sounders, Go Loons!
Let's get MLS 2017 underway!
Cascadia on the Prairie
A man who had always been around mountains. From the arid, dry mountains around Phoenix, Arizona to the lush rain-drenched Cascade Mountains of Washington, or the high craggy peaks of Colorado, these landscapes shaped him. Now, he's on the northern plains, in the beautiful state of Minnesota... and perpetually lost without the ever-present navigational aids on the horizon.

I'll make this short and sweet, since this is just meant to get started. And there you have it. Fancy, eh?
